Net Salary Calculator in Saudi Arabia
Net salary is the amount that actually reaches the employee's account after GOSI contributions and any other deductions. This tool derives net pay from basic salary, housing allowance, and other allowances.
How is net salary calculated?
Gross salary = basic salary + housing allowance + other allowances. The employee's GOSI contribution is deducted from gross (9.75% for Saudis on basic + housing, capped at 45,000 SAR), along with any other monthly deductions such as loans. Net salary = gross − GOSI deduction − other deductions.
What is subject to GOSI?
Only basic salary and housing allowance are contributable. Other allowances such as transport are not subject to GOSI, but they are included in gross and net pay.
Employer cost
An employee costs the employer more than their salary, because it includes gross pay plus the employer's GOSI share (11.75% for Saudis, and 2% occupational hazards for non-Saudis).
Calculation Methodology
GOSI contribution base
GOSI contributions are calculated on basic salary plus housing allowance, subject to the 45,000 SAR monthly ceiling. Other allowances are not part of the contribution base.
Net salary
Net salary = gross (basic + housing + other allowances) minus the employee GOSI deduction minus any other monthly deductions you enter.
Employer cost
The calculator shows the total cost of the employee to the employer = gross salary + the employer's GOSI share. Useful for employers and HR for budgeting.
Calculation limits
This is an estimate. It excludes income tax (not levied on individuals in Saudi Arabia) and company-specific deductions. Check your payslip or HR for final figures.
Practical Examples
Saudi employee — 10,000 basic + 2,500 housing
Khalid is a Saudi employee (registered before July 2024) with basic 10,000 SAR, housing 2,500 SAR, and transport 800 SAR. Gross = 10,000 + 2,500 + 800 = 13,300 SAR. GOSI base = 10,000 + 2,500 = 12,500 SAR (transport excluded). Employee deduction = 12,500 × 9.75% = 1,218.75 SAR. Net salary = 13,300 − 1,218.75 = 12,081.25 SAR. Employer cost = 13,300 + (12,500 × 11.75% = 1,468.75) = 14,768.75 SAR.
Saudi employee with a monthly loan deduction
Noura is a Saudi employee with basic 8,000 SAR and housing 2,000 SAR, and a 1,500 SAR monthly loan deduction. Gross = 10,000 SAR. GOSI base = 10,000 SAR. GOSI deduction = 10,000 × 9.75% = 975 SAR. Net salary = 10,000 − 975 − 1,500 = 7,525 SAR.
Non-Saudi employee — no GOSI deduction
Raj is a non-Saudi employee with basic 6,000 SAR and housing 1,500 SAR. No GOSI is deducted from his salary. Gross = net = 7,500 SAR (absent any private deductions). The employer pays 2% occupational hazards = 7,500 × 2% = 150 SAR, so employer cost is 7,650 SAR.
